Secret smile

Poem about secret admirer

Gawky simpers,
secret glances,
clumsy nods

We agree to talk in alien
As if we can’t understand each other
Even if we actually do

There’s always that moment
You and those shy grey eyes
Come to me seeking affirmation
Of a connection that we’re not sure if it’s there or not

You confuse me with your lack of words
And lack of hustle
You see, I don’t know you enough to understand what you want
I’m not a mind reader

I need to know what you want
I need to know what you have in mind

So why won’t you come up and talk to me?
Or should I ask you out instead?

Nobody knows it but you’ve got a secret smile, and you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you’ve got a secret smile
